Sèvres salad bowl decorated with leaf garlands on a pink band and pink and bleu flowers, 1784

Saladier uni, second size

Ø 22.8 cm

Interlaced Ls, date letter gg for 1784 and painter’s mark for Pierre Massy (active 1779-1802).

This saladier was originally part of a service described as filets carmin guirlande de mirthe, roses et souvenirs.

Delivered in three parts to the dealer Jean-Baptiste Lefebvre, the first part of the service was bought on the 20 March 1784 and included two second size saladiers, further supplements were purchased in September 1784 and 1786.

Part of the service was on the English market in 1998 and included items dated 1784 and 1786 which leads us to believe that the supplements were intended for the same client.

The pattern used for this service can be found in the Sèvres archives.
